Colectivo Ilé’s Statement on George Floyd
“We are women, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, daughters living in Puerto Rico and feeling excruciating pain for the murder of George Floyd. We extend our condolences to his family and to the African Americans all over the United States who once again suffer the death of a beloved son and father. We mourn with you and share in your sadness. We also stand with you in your anger as police brutality continues to be a merciless arm of white supremacy. George’s plea for air and life will remain indelible in our broken hearts. As antiracist women, we honor his life and memory and demand for justice to prevail, and for peace to come to Black people across the U.S. We remain vigilant and hold you close; for your struggles is our struggle. ”
